Riches • Power • Trust

What was the one thing the rich young ruler lacked? His unwillingness to do what Jesus instructed him to do proved his trust was placed somewhere else. He didn't trust Jesus. Why?

Join me as we explore a couple parallels found in both Mark's and Luke's gospel, from Luke's perspective.

Why did He not trust Jesus? He didn't see Him as God. The man trusted in himself, he trusted riches, he trusted his own decisions and he trusted his desires and Jesus proved to him and us that He had never authentically trusted Jesus or His message. He walked away sorrowful and deceived but many are walking away happy and deceived. Think about it? When you gave and committed your sin and the rest of your life to Jesus, did Jesus commit and give Himself entirely to you, to be your God and Shepherd, King and Deliverer, Master and Teacher, Rescuer and Redeemer, Truth and Grace, Life and Hope, Love and Delight... your everything? And what's been the undeniable and irreplaceable evidence of Him, His presence and commitment to Shepherd your life? If you were sent away to keep living as you always have but now you have a decision to look back to, you're fooling yourself. If all you have is your decision, and that's what you're clinging to, I wouldn't count on it or bank your eternity upon it, it's worthless. You're not, by your decision is. Jesus lived and died to own and order your entire life, not so you could own and order your life and attach His name to it. Trust Him.

Examine yourselves... eternity is way to long to be wrong.
