Nearer, Still Nearer!
Series Psalms
The psalmist calls upon the whole of creation to praise the LORD. All in the place called Heaven, all in the heavens (creation itself), and all upon the earth as well. The praise of all His saints, a people near Him, are called to praise Him. This people is specified as Israel in the psalmist's day. But the mantle of praise is pressed into the hands of believers in Christ today. Our praise is unique because we speak out of the fulness of God's redeeming love. We understand that we are pardoned by the blood of the crucified One. We have the righteousness of God in Him. We are a people near to Him as verse 14 states. The angels may be in closer proximity to Him in the Heaven of Heavens, but they are not close like we are close. We are a people still nearer to Him.
