I. Abraham Believed God 3:4-6
v. 4 – Is he talking about suffering persecution?
Acts 14:19-20
Instead of translating the Greek word pascho as “suffered” a
secondary meaning of the word is “experienced”.
v. 5 – The difference between the Spirit and Law is as huge to Paul
as the difference between grace and works.
v. 6 -- Is the key verse that ties it all together
II. Four Key Words in Four Verses 3:6-9
Verse 6 – accounted
Genesis 26:4-5; 15:1-6
Verse 7 – faith
Verse 8 – gospel
“In you all nations shall be blessed.”
“God would justify the Gentiles by faith.”
Verse 9 – faith and believing
III. Cursing and Blessing 3:10-14
v. 10 – from Deut. 27:26 which is the final curse in this chapter of curses.
v. 11—from Habakkuk 2:4.
v. 12 – You want salvation by law-keeping? Then keep the law perfectly.
v. 13-14 – The “Curse Bearing/Blessing Giving” Death of Christ
Deut 21:23 says, “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
2 Cor. 5:21 – “For he made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
