Great Expectations
Series Westminster Shorter Catechism
WSC #12: What special act of providence did God exercise toward man in the estate wherein he was created? When God had created man, he entered into a covenant of life with him, upon condition of perfect obedience; forbidding him to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, upon the pain of death.
Aim: To know and respond to God's powerful passion.
Doctrine: God reveals His love by creating us with eternity in mind and placing high and holy expectations on us.
Exposition: God's preconceived expectations include pulling back the curtain (vv. 1-2), turning up the volume (vv. 3-5a), and sharing His song (vv. 5b-6) with people passionate for God (vv. 7-8).
Application: Reveal your love for God by receiving His perfect provision for your sins, and preparing for a life of eternal expectations.
Key phrase: v. 6a ''It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.''
