Meaning of the Prayer

248

Habakkuk's problems of Chapter 1 and God's sobering responses had not led to bitterness or fatalism. Rather they moved the prophet to seek God. This message focuses on the meaning of the language of the petition of Habakkuk 3:2. Attention is directed to the significance of, 'Shigionoth'(3:1). Much attention is directed to the verb, 'revive.' Properly speaking, revival is a work among the people of God which occasionally has the effect of awakening among the unconverted.
