Devoted to the Breaking of the Bread

The presentation of the video sermon is enhanced by frequent scripture references and verses added to the video screen, as well as important points and summaries by the preacher, Wayne Conrad.

The "Breaking of the Bread" is the third principal act of worship that is seen in the early church's gatherings as laid out in Acts 2:42. Guided by the context and grammar, this phrase is a reference to the Lord's Supper, that is, Holy Communion, which was a regular part of the church's worship gatherings, along with devotion to the apostles' teaching, the fellowship, and the prayers. At this holy supper, also called "the Lord's Table," disciples of Jesus draw near to Christ in grateful remembrance of his sacrificial death in their behalf. But this holy rite is more than a remembrance, it is actual fellowship with the risen Christ who is the invisible host at the Table. Acts 20:7 reveals that the celebration of the Lord's Table was the chief reason the church gathered for worship. The Lord's Supper should be celebrated often, preferably weekly, because it focuses on the heart of our salvation from sin: the sacrificial death of Christ for our sins, yet his resurrection from the dead also to secure our justification before the holy God.
