The Exposure of False Teachers

263

Paul has identified the characteristics of false teachers that infiltrate churches. When they do they are to be avoided.

He gives further warning of the danger of tolerating these teachers by elaborating on their schemes and ploys.

He describes the particular influence these teachers can have on unbelieving women. Being unsaved they are vulnerable and unsuspecting, proving to be an "easy" target to this teaching. Being ungodly, lacking discernment and still under the burden of their sin, these women make willing listeners to the lies of these teachers. Mixing truth with error these false teachers craft a message that appeals to their guilt, lusts and felt-needs. From these women the corrupted message is then spread to their husbands, family and friends.

These men employ an "underhandedness" that is a commonly used method of the Devil whom they follow. The strategy of the Devil does not change which is why the church continues to be susceptible to false teachers "secretly introducing destructive heresies."

Genuine believers in the church must never underestimate the efforts and schemes of the devil to destroy the Church of Jesus Christ.
