The Leper and the Lord

Four phrases capture four major lessons from the chapter.

1. But a leper - Namaan achieved much but was a leper and in the same way men might gain the world but still be lost sinners.
2. If Only - the young girl had been badly mistreated but nonetheless demonstrated compassion and faith in her desire to see her master healed.
3. Indeed I said to myself - Namaan needed to be humbled and needed to be willing to be healed on God's terms, not his own.
4. Now I Know - Namaan knew himself to be cured and converted, reminding us that Christians know themselves to be saved.
5. Is this the time to take money - receiving payment from Namaan would compromise the emphasis on the graciousness of the healing.
