Repentance Part 2

INTRO: Our messages are a concentration on the subject of repentance. Repentance is not a negative message. It is one of the most positive messages there is. Without the possibility of repentance, hell is assured to all of mankind. With repentance, salvation is made possible, and it is free. There is no requirement of any payment or of any works for one's sins to be removed. Repentance, in that sense, is a gift. To be able to have one's sins removed without any works of merit makes it a gift.
But though no kind of works or merit is involved in repentance, it is not without cost and it is that cost that keeps millions from repenting. The cost comes in humbling in acknowledgment of the truth and in confession sin. Many choose hell over humbling and over confession. Others exercise slop bucket repentance, and hope for the best. But only true humbling and true confession brings peace and contentment.
Sin causes us to hide. That is first seen in Adam and Eve. They had covered themselves in self-righteous fig leaves, but when God showed up, they hid. That is the nature of sin. David's sin with Bathsheba is a huge demonstration of hiding. He went to a lot of trouble to cover his sin. He even had a man killed to hide his sin. And as long as his sin was hidden, he was content with himself. He lived life as usual. How much conviction he experienced we do not know. But he kept the sin hidden.
