1 Peter 4 - part 14

42

As the tide turns against believers in this nation, it is good to remind ourselves of what is expected of us and what has been provided for us, so we may be prepared if and when we come under intensified persecution for Him. This is a study of the need to gird up the loins of our minds in preparation for suffering for our Lord. The lesson is that we are to be prepared in our minds for suffering for Him and our confidence is not to be in the things of this life but in the sure things of our hope in all His promises to us when He comes back for His body the church. Peter calls us to holiness in all our behavior. Here we look at our instructions as to how to live as the end of all things is at hand. We are to be of a sound mind and sober spirit, for the purpose of prayer. And above all as we face the times that God has in store for us, and especially if they are difficult times, we are to be fervent or boiling in our love for one another. As believers we are called to be hospitable. This is of utmost importance because it shows the work of the Holy Spirit in us as we truly love the brethren. During times of persecution this hospitality is in especially great need and believers must see that they do not fail when it comes to accepting those and caring for those who are in need and have fled from their homes.
