Led in the Path of Temptation

Christ teaches us to pray, "Lead us not into temptation." While God does not tempt His people to sin, He does lead us in a path of temptation. He leads us into trials to prove our character and cause us to grow. But every trial provides an opportunity (a temptation) to sin. God explicitly led the children of Israel in paths of temptation. Paul uses their failures as an object lesson to trust God and stand firm.
