Jeremiah is given four pictures of Apostasy. Judah has left off her relationship with Jehovah God and is following false gods for she is now worshipping in the highplaces of idolatry and now that she has turned a way from the LORD, Jemeriah sends a message using illustrative pictures. The first picture is that she has broken her yolk. God had lovingly paired up taking Iseral as a devoted and adopted son. Jesus said my yolk is easy and my burden is light, and so the relationship Judah was to share with the Lord was to be of blessing and prosperty, but she had broken her yolk, her relationship was no longer oneof blessing, she had abondoned the Lord for foreign gods. The second picture was that she had become to God a wild grape vine, instead of an honored vine with a loving Husbandman even her Lord God. Now was Judah unkept, wild, unfruitful, and suffering the lack of care from the Lord. The third picture is that she had a stain on her that she could not wash off with either soda-lye or soap. Her stain could not be removed therefore her sin was great in the site of God. Judah was called to repent. The fourth was Judah was like a wandering camel or a wild donkey lusting after another wild and wandering mate in heat for lust. Yet in this case her wandering would take her to the idols of the false gods. Judahs persuit of them would be lustful, sinful, and destructive, even violent to her life yet she would rather enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season rather than to enjoy the blessing of God for she had become stiffnecked and wayward from God.
