Correction and Instruction

What follows is an excerpt from A Treatise on Afflictions, which the author wrote in 1651 while imprisoned in the Tower of London for nonconformity. It is based on Psalm 94:12, “Blessed is the man whom thou chatenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law.” Here Case expounds upon the essential connection between correction (discipline) and instruction (doctrine).
