The Church Is Built Upon Jesus Christ

After Peter made his great confession that Jesus the Son of Man is the Messiah and the Son of God, our Lord Jesus declared that He was going to build His New Testament church "upon this rock". The church is built upon an immovable foundation so that whatever befalls her she shall never perish from the earth. But what is the rock that the church is built upon? This is the first of two messages that seek to answer this question. The church is built upon both a primary and a secondary foundation. The church is built in a secondary way upon the Apostles, but she is built first and foremost upon Jesus Christ Himself.
