The Consequences of Infant Baptism
Series The Gospel of Mark
The New Testament portrays and explicitly teaches the baptism of repentant believers. It does not teach or portray the baptism of infants. Infant baptism was invented by the early church as a practice that logically went hand in hand with the accompanying erroneous doctrine of baptismal regeneration. If you believe that the waters of baptism regenerate and save a person, then why wouldn't you baptize babies? Especially when infant mortality rates were high. Unfortunately, baptismal regeneration has no more biblical support than infant baptism. In this sermon, I deal with typical arguments in favor of the practice and then delve into the disastrous consequences of baptizing babies. It is not a harmless practice. It is a devastating ritual that has had devastating effects.
