Sanctity of Human Life - Marriage as God's Institution Part II

Idea: God has designed marriage for the purpose of having and raising godly children. Abortion works directly against God's design, not just because of the killing of a child, but because it perverts the created beauty of God's design for marriage.

1. Marriage, Sex and Children - God's design places sexual intimacy and having children in the context of marriage.

2. Practical question: What about sex outside of marriage as defined by Scripture?

3. Application to Abortion debate
   God's design and dominion mandate inform us in the abortion debate, then, by teaching us that God has designed sexual intimacy and the having of children to happen within marriage, and not outside. This also informs our attitude about children, that children are good. It is part of God's purpose that couples have and raise Godly children. So as we pursue this we do so thinking of our children as a blessing, a challenge, a calling, etc. In the abortion debate, the pro-choice advocates promote sex without responsibility and communicate that children are a burden or curse. Again, think of the two positions side by side and you'll see that the Christian position gives honor and dignity to human life, while the pro-choice position looks at children as merely lumps of tissue in the best possible light, or in the most blunt light, that children are a curse.
   Instead, we believe that God blessed mankind and gave a purpose of having and raising godly children. Abortion not only violates the sanctify of a human life, but it also tramples underfoot God's design for sexual intimacy and child bearing.
