There are four mentions of the whale in the Bible: Genesis 1:21; Job 7:21; Ezekial 32:2; and Matthew 12:39-40. You might surprised that Jonah is not mentioned. The Greek word used in Matthew is a broad description which includes the whale, literally a huge fish with a wide mouth.
The Whale as:
(I) A Creature
(II) A Monster
(III) A Creature.
