Fundamentals of Forgiveness

Patience is fundamental to forgiving one another. This is plainly indicated in Colossians 3:12-13 by the relationship of "put on...patience.....forgiving each other." Patience (longsuffering) is an underlying fundamental to forgiveness. A second fundamental is forgiveness received from God in Christ. Christians are to forgive one another because God in Christ has forgiven them. Christians are to forgive one another as God in Christ has forgiven them. As God in Christ has forgiven freely, fully and forever so Christians are to forgive one another.
