Zechariah: Words of comfort

Zechariah's mission was to encourage the Jews who had returned from Babylon to Jerusalem after the captivity to rebuild the Temple of the Lord because of the near promises and the future blessings the Lord will give them. Zechariah's message was that God will preserve His remnant from all the world powers that oppress them; these empires will be destroyed, but the true Israel of God will survive the trials they face because they are the people of the Messiah. God Himself will settle His kingdom and He will rule over the earth after having defeated His enemies. Zec. 9:9-10 is a key text showing an apocalyptic view of the Messiah coming in two phases: as a suffering servant and as a triumphant King to settle His everlasting kingdom. He was totally aligned in style and content with the book of Revelation.
