Jesus Was Covered in Darkness

In His last three hours on the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ suffered in darkness. Through Amos, God prophesied: "I will cause the sun to go down at noon." In sovereignty, Christ suffered alone and without help. In behalf of God's elect, God's wrath was poured out upon Him and He endured the penalties of the law to absolute exhaustion. Only then did He cry, "It is finished."
