Persevere Amidst Evil Men & Seducers, Timothy

How can we have a successful Christian life in the midst of these perilous times? Paul exhorts Timothy to continue in the things which he has learned. To "continue" implies more than just verbally defending what we believe; it refers to our life--our "conversation." As Noah first "found grace in the eyes of the LORD" and then it is said that he "was a just man and perfect in his generations, and ... walked with God,"
so our lives after salvation should mirror that walk with God that Noah had in the midst of the scoffers in his day. A verbal confession alone is not enough; the Lord condemned this in the Pharisees in Matthew 23:1-12. He told those listening to observe (do) what they were told to observe by the Pharisees, because this was the law, but not to do after their works, because they were corrupt and prideful, and they were not the examples they should have been in their testimonies. We are to live according to what we've learned if we want to make an impact for Christ in these perilous times.
