The Spirit Gives Life

What can be a stumbling block to some people, is the realisation that we cannot make ourselves Christians; we have to rely on God to make that happen. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to point us to Christ. It requires His supernatural work to begin the work of regeneration in us, the flesh cannot do this. Without the Spirit we cannot be born anew, or even desire the Christian life. With the Spirit's help we can become aware of our sinfulness; we can see our need and thus we are brought to repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ. God is no longer just some vainly imagined being, but to the person who is 'born again' He is real, whose Son, Jesus Christ, was revealed as the bringer of God's love, through His death for repentant sinners on the cross of Calvary. So, we honour the Holy Spirit for His place in our sins being forgiven, and for us being given life eternal.
