Our View of Authoritative Revelation

The last major authority in the life of Old Testament Israel that Moses addresses under the fifth commandment is the prophet of God. These prophets were called by God to deliver His specific revelation of Himself and His will to Israel. The people of God were to listen to and obey them as they were to listen to and obey God. It was through the prophets that God called His wayward people to repentance time and again, even down to the last prophet: John the Baptist. The Son of Man, Jesus, is the prophet greater than Moses - we must hear and obey Him.
