Life from death through grace

124 ( 104 | 20 )

Luke is showing the character and the power of the King, his supremacy and superiority in various fields, and his compassion in dealing with the lowliest and the neediest.

Luke draws our attention to pleading by a man full of leprosy: "If you are willing, you can make me clean."

He shows us pity as, moved with compassion, Christ touches the leper.

He reveals power, as Christ by his word and his touch heals the man entirely of his disease.

He tells of purity, as Christ communicates cleanness to the unclean, and as the leper shows himself to the priest and offers sacrifices to God.

He points out pressure, as the crowds gather to hear Christ and seek healing at his hands.

Then there is prayer, as our Lord communes often with God in order to maintain his heaven-given priorities.
