The Kitchen of Christian Discipleship

Now, today, we want to proceed into the kitchen of this house of discipleship. The kitchen is where the food is kept and prepared, in preparation for its being served in the dining room. We want to look at the dining room next in our tour of this house, but this morning we want to spend some time in the kitchen. This room, the kitchen, represents what you do, or others do for you, in the preparation of the spiritual food that you take into your soul day by day. I think that quite a few of us need to hear this message this morning, because we do not treat the hungering of our soul as we do the hungering of our stomach. We will regularly go to the kitchen, each and every day, and open the refrigerator and look into it, and if we are wise, we will think about what would strengthen and nourish our bodies. We are thinking about what would refresh and delight us in regard to the physical need for food that we have, in relation to our bodies. But ask yourself now; do I do the same thing for spiritual needs of my eternal soul?
