God is Light 2

Two features culminate with a direction of our attention toward God and away from ourselves
The first feature is ‘who’
A. The Apostles – vs 1-4
B. Him – Jesus – vs 3, John 14:1-11, John 17:1-8
C. John’s Audience – Revelation 2, 3
D. God the Father – 1 John 4:16, Jer 10:10, Lev 19:2, Isaiah 6:1-3, Rev 4:8,11
The second feature is ‘what’
A. Simple Use of “light” – Ezekiel 8:12
B. Biblical Use of “light” – 5 Truths about God’s sovereignty over light and darkness

1. God is sovereign over visible light and darkness
2. God is sovereign over the light of wisdom and the darkness of foolishness
3. God is sovereign over the light of blessing and the darkness of cursing
4. God is sovereign over the light of salvation and the darkness of judgment
5. God is sovereign over the light of His essence.

Two Tests of Fellowship with God:
