Dusty or Mystical?

89

In proving that the Lord had appointed Jesus to be the High Priest the author quotes two different Psalms and in doing so reveals how closely tied together in his thinking the Son was with Him ruling the nations and being a priest. The implications of this inseparable bond between the Son's Kingly and Priestly roles are far reaching. In Jesus' days the kind of Messiah the people wanted was a conquering King not a sacrificial Lamb. In our days, many gladly embrace Jesus as the sacrificial Lamb, but not as the reigning King. There is, however, no justification for believing that Christ's Priestly work is able to reach down into the darkest, deepest crevices in this world, but that His Kingly rule cannot and will not permeate those same places.
