The first two chapters of Walter Martin's book on Roman Catholicism called, "The Roman Catholic Church in History" are here presented. Walter Martin (September 10, 1928 -- June 26, 1989), was an American Evangelical minister, author, and Christian apologist who founded the Christian Research Institute in 1960 as a para-church ministry specializing as a clearing-house of information in both general Christian apologetics and in countercult apologetics. Walter authored such works as: "Jehovah of the Watchtower," " The Rise of the Cults," "The Maze of Mormonism," "Essential Christianity: A Handbook of Basic Christian Doctrines," "The Riddle of Reincarnation," "The New Age Cult," "Walter Martin's Cults Reference Bible," the classic "The Kingdom of the Cults, " & others. Walter Martin debated the famous atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair on national radio (to hear some of these debates go to https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL640E505B96CD6B39).

Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater (YouTube channel: CANSWERSTV at http://www.youtube.com/user/CAnswersTV; websites: http://www.BibleQuery.org, http://www.HistoryCart.com & http://www.MuslimHope.com) is happy to present this audio presentation of Walter Martin's excellent analysis of the Roman Catholic religion based on lectures he gave at Calvary Baptist Church in New York City in 1958 & 1959. The narration for Walter's book is by Dan Rosema.

Chapter One - The Papacy, Was Peter the First Pope?

"To study the papacy is to learn a valuable lesson - to learn that when we surrender to men what we are commanded to surrender only to the Holy Spirit, spiritual tyranny and slavery results.
