David's Great Commission
Series Life of David
46
Near the end of David's life, he publicly commissioned Solomon to build the Temple. The construction work would be difficult, and this would be in addition to the work of being king of Israel. The charge from David to Solomon was simple, but difficult. It is just two words: "Do it." "Do it" conveys accountability to perform this important work. God's assignments take the form of an imperative, with no ambiguity depending on ability or willingness. However, David encouraged Solomon by telling him that God would be with him. With this encouragement, Solomon could be strong and courageous to complete the work.
