FLEEING IDOLATRY: SHARERS IN CHRIST OR SHARERS IN DEMONS?
(1 CORINTHIANS 10:14-22)

Because of our sharing in the Lord’s Supper, we must flee idolatry!

The Lord’s Supper is a sharing in the body and blood of Christ (15-18)

Vertical dimension: The cup of blessing is a sharing in the blood of Christ (15-16a)

Horizontal dimension: The bread is a sharing in the body of Christ (16b-17)

Idolatry is a sharing in demons (18-20)

Example of Israel: Those eating sacrifices share in the altar (18)

Idols in themselves are nothing (19)

The demons behind the idols are everything (20)

Absolute incompatibility of sharing in the Lord’s Supper and sharing in demons (21-22)
