- THE SABBATH IS A PERMANENT ORDINANCE
a. Content of 4th Commandment shows permanence:
i. Remember (v.8).
ii. Creation ordinance (v.11).
b. Context of 4th Commandment shows permanence [refer Introductory sermon]:
i. The ten commandments belong together.
ii. The ten commandments are a summary of God's moral law.
c. The NT confirms the permanence of the Sabbath ordinance:
i. Christ's teaching upholds the continuing Sabbath.
ii. Apostolic teaching doesn't annul Sabbath day.
- THE SABBATH DAY HAS CHANGED
i. 4th commandment is firstly about Sabbath, then the 7th day.
ii. Under OT law there were many non-7th day sabbaths.
iii. The NT shows apostolic church meeting and worshipping on first day.
iv. Christ is the authority for change from 7th to first day.
v. The Sabbath day changed at Christ's resurrection.
- THE SABBATH MUST BE KEPT HOLY
i. Remember the Sabbath day.
ii. Keep the Sabbath day holy.

iii. Seek God's Sabbath blessing
