Israel's food laws

1. What was the purpose of the food laws for Israel?

a. A holy people – set apart from the other nations.
b. The food laws were about ceremonial purity not moral purity.
c. The food laws could not be separated from rest of clean/unclean laws = a package.

2. Do these food laws apply to Christians today?

a. The NT church also called a peculiar people.
b. The distinction between clean and unclean animals is also known before the flood.
c. But God has now abrogated these food laws, with the whole ceremonial law.

e. Dealing with differences.

3. What do the food laws teach us about living as Christians?

i. We must know our own uncleanness and seek cleansing from God alone.
