Leading and Loving Well

Can I pass on a little insight and tip for you and your home, in a "go after what you want" kind of world? I've been pondering and considering a thought found in 1 Kings 1. Several things stood out to me but there's something specific I'd like to plate for you, giving you a little goodness to chew on.

Adonijah, King David's son, would have been featured in a modern day "name it and claim it" and "make your own path of success story" — minus the fact that his failed run for glory was short lived. Think about it? He did exactly what the gurus teach. They make their living telling everyone else how to make theirs. Their doctrine and mantra is something like this: "Your success is only limited to what you believe and claim you can achieve." Adonijah took the initiative and went after what he cultivated in his mind and heart. He thought it... He spoke it... He wanted it... He believed it... He acted on it... He positioned himself for it... and had affirmation from others to go for it. Yet, he was denied [it], because [it] was not what God had planed for Adonijah or the future of God's kingdom.

Let's bring this home and put by all the books and articles that tell you and I to live and think like David's son. Just because you or me or someone else thinks it, speaks it, believes it and goes after it — doesn't mean [it] will line up with God's plan for us and those we lead. Adonijah, in his unlimited vision for himself, limited himself before God and His excellent will for him. Don't be limited to your thoughts and aspirations... let the Lord "limit" your focus and fix your faith on His plan and purpose for your life. All of the great...
