Turn To Thy God

148

"Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually" (Hosea 12:6).

First we see an empty pursuit. It said Ephraim was feeding on the wind. He was pursuing idols that could not supply his needs or deliver him. Secondly we consider a good example. Jacob (Israel) is referred to in verse 12 of the chapter. In his early days Jacob was crafty but after a special experience with the Lord he was humble and declared, "I sm not worthy of the least of all thy mercies." So in his last years, Jacob became a good example. Thirdly, we see an earnest plea. The call is "turn to thy God." Finally we see the message delivered. God sent his message by the prophets and today the message is sent in his word and proclaimed by his servants. The message: quit feeding on the wind and turn to the Lord where you soul can be fed.
