Why Praise God?
Series Ephesians
57
Thesis: While man is superficial and/or conditional in relationships with others, God saved us based on his own love, conditional upon nothing in us. This should motivate the believer to praise God for his incredible grace towards us.
God's Holy Design should draw out worship because He:
PICKED US (v.4)
- God chooses, then works in those he
chose (past tense - once) - Election is based on God's plan, not
on merits of person, nation, etc - Elected persons are eternally secure
- God wants to show his glory - miracle
of saving a person who doesnt seek him
- God chooses, then works in those he
PREDESTINED US (v.5)
- To be like Christ
- Literally adopted into new family,
child of God, sibling of Jesus - To be perfect!
PURPOSED US (v.6)
- To glorify him
- Live for the next world (eternity)
- To make Christ first place in EVERYTHING
CONCLUSION: If man was created to praise, worship and glorify God, then not doing so will logically lead to discontentment. The believer should seek to lift Christ to first place in every area of life, which will lead to fulfilled satisfaction in God's purpose for us.
