In the early 1970's a famous politician uttered the phrase, "Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but they are not entitled to their own facts." Variations of this pithy quote have appeared with regularity during heated political exchanges since then. It reflects the idea that what is accepted to be true is subject to the perspective of a every person. This also occurs when people are confronted with the claim of Christ that He alone is the promised Messiah and that He alone is the hope for mankind. The people in our text today had trouble accepting His claim, but as we will see, truth is true regardless of our perspective.
