The Wonderful God

Aim: To believe in and love the God of wonders.

Doctrine: The wonderful God effects great and unexpected deliverance. When His church is down, Christ appears with glorious strength.

Exegesis: How we saints fetch Christ to our aid: first, by praying to God in our trouble (vv. 1-3); then, by believing God's incredible promises (vv. 4-9); finally, by worshiping in (and as) His house (vv. 10-11).

Further application: How we rise above stale, humanistic religion: by understanding that the Christian God really exists, and understanding that faith in Christ leads to love for Him.

Key verse: v. 8 ''I will cleanse them of all the guilt of their sin against me, and I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me.''
