22 False Prophetesses
Series Ezekiel
118
Ezekiel is now told to direct his attention to the false prophetesses. They were sorcerers who practiced witchcraft and Baal worship, which is a form of the occult. They conducted séances prophesying for the population they deceived. Because of the special sexual charm of women to men they can easily lead the unsuspecting away from God and into sin and idolatry. In Revelation 2:14, God tells the church in Pergamum that Balaam taught Balak how to ruin the people of Israel, by involving them in sexual sin, and encouraging them to go to idol feasts (from Numbers chapters 22-25). These women prophecied with prophecies they made up and did not come from God. God now wants Ezekiel to condemn them. Jeremiah in Jerusalem was condemning them too.
