Christ and the Times of Man

"A time to be born and a time to die..." So begins this most famous of Bible passages. Yet whereas the world sees the wisdom in it, only the believer on Christ understands it properly. Here, we take an unusual approach by commenting on how the Lord Jesus Christ both experiences these phenomena of life as man and causes them to be experienced by us—being as he is God, blessed for ever. The times of his birth, life and death were, like ours, timed according to God's perfect wisdom. And concerning our death, we let Job finish, with a reminder of how God will not forget us in the grave but will remember us at an appointed time and raise us to everlasting life.
