Peter's Final Sermon in Acts

This is the last record of Peter preaching a sermon. His first sermon was delivered in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost to crowds of perplexed Jews. This final sermon is delivered to a small group of Gentiles who have gathered in Caesarea to the home of Cornelius to hear what the messenger from Joppa will say.

It behooves the church to give attention to the preaching points of the apostles and to ensure that our own sermons reflect the content and method of these men.

In Peter's sermon, he presents the gospel of Jesus Christ in six points with a seventh point of application at the end:

1. Jesus has come to make peace.
2. Jesus has been anointed with the Holy Spirit to be Christ.
3. Jesus has opposed Satan, Evil and its effects victoriously.
4. Jesus has died as one accursed upon a tree.
5. Jesus has risen from the dead and is alive.
6. Jesus is the final judge of the living and the dead.

And the seventh point forms his application:
7. Everyone who believes upon Jesus receives forgiveness of sins through his name.

This brings the whole message around to conclude where it began. Jesus has come to bring peace by bringing about a way in which sinners could be forgiven and thus restored to God.
