What's a Living Sacrifice Subject To?

After exhorting the justified living sacrifice (Rom 12:1-2) to outwardly live in Service in the Church (Rom 12:3-21), Paul now exhorts the outward living in Subjection to the World. In Romans 13, we are commanded to live in subjection to Authority (1-7), to Neighbors (8-10), and to Christ (11-14).

In this sermon, with Romans 13:8-10, we see that God's moral law (as summarized by the Ten Commandments) is the law of love--and is in no way meant to be repealed or of no authority over the Christian. And even Romans 13:1-10 is a picture of the Ten Commandments, with the first four commandments seen as the first (Godward) table, the last five as the second (manward) table, with the fifth commandment (authority) being the 'hinge' that connects the two. We praise God that Christ subjected Himself to the Law in our place--fulfilling the 'law of love' perfectly while enduring our penalty for breaking it--that we might subject ourselves to Him (Rom 13:11-14).
