Why Jesus must needs go through Samaria

In this Inspired Portion of Holy Writ, we are told that Christ must needs go through Samaria. In this verse, I believe we are given a behind the scenes glimpse, however brief, at the everlasting workings of God.
In this precious passage, we are given rare insight to the eternal purpose of God in Election. There were a number of lost sheep, not of the house of Israel, who had wandered lost along the hills of Samaria, and the Good Shepherd must needs come and bring them into His fold.
