Pride affects everyone

Paul saw himself as the chief of sinners. This subjective feeling was based on objective fact. God didn't have a more bitter enemy than Saul of Tarsus. Saul is a pattern of how God saves sinners. God took the most bitter enemy and saved him. All men, even the apostles, have a carnal nature that shows itself. Every man at his best state is all together vanity.
