Series Defining Faith
Working Faith James 2:14-26 The Book of James is about faith. But it is not about "saving faith." It is about the role faith plays in the life of a person who is already a believer.8. The Book of James is not an evangelistic book written to people in a culture where faith is foreign. The Book of James is a book of guidelines for living, which was written to the family who had a full knowledge of who Jesus is, and who had chosen to make Him the center of their lives.Sam Jones once used this illustration: "If I go to chop wood and you find me with my ax across my knees and not a chip in sight. You may ask, 'Why are you not chopping wood?' I answer, 'I'm waiting until I work up a sweat first; then I'll chop wood.' The best way to work up a sweat is to chop wood." Faith will not get the job done. It must be followed by works.
