How To Die Well
Series Digital Puritan Vol. 3 Book 2
How to Die Well William Perkins (1558-1602) William Perkins was pastor of St. Andrew's Church in Cambridge, living his entire life during the happy reign of Elizabeth I. He sought Protestant reform from within the Church of England, instead of separation from it. He maintained cordial relationships with his nonconforming brethren, and was himself eventually called to trial for preaching a sermon against kneeling to receive communion. What follows is an excerpt from A Salve for a Sick Man, which was recently reprinted by Puritan Publications. It teaches the Christian how to prepare himself to live in a godly manner during times of sickness and at the approach of death. "The day of death is better than the day that one is born." Ecclesiastes 7:1
