The guile of the Gibeonites

Here, Joshua and the Israelites were tricked. They were beguiled by the Gibeonites.
This is clearly a result of failing to pray, and seek God's direction before entering into a major decision. From the pulpit to the back pew, God's children have all been guilty of getting themselves into great trouble, by failing in this same way.
