What Is Happening when the Apostles Speak?

Certainty about living under the ascended Lord is what the Church is all about and this is what Luke wants to give us in his book of Acts. The speeches of the Apostles in particular are a window into the very heart and mind of the Church as the gospel spreads from Jerusalem to Rome. It is easy to share the world's scepticsm about unseen things, but this book, and its speeches in particular, are here to tell us what it means to live under Christ as Lord, and to assure us that this is what is really happening when we believe in him.
