David as a shepherd probably never dreamed he would be a great warrior and a King, but he knew God as he watched the sheep and cared for the young lambs. Even though he committed an awful tragic sin God still forgave him and gave him Eternal Life.
Christ taught the doctrine of Election that David often spoke of in the Psalms.
