Beyond Human Wisdom: We Have Everything In God!

BEYOND HUMAN WISDOM: WE HAVE EVERYTHING IN GOD!
1 Corinthians 3:18-23

No more boasting about men!

Because:

The wisdom of this world is foolishness beside God (18-19a)
The command to avoid self-deception (18a)
The “great reversal”—man's foolishness and God's wisdom (18)

God catches the “wise” in their craftiness (19b-20)
God leverages “wise” human cunning to achieve His purpose (19b)
God makes human “wisdom” useless (20)

All things belong to us (21-23)
The command: Do not boast in human leaders (21)
The primary reason: All things belong to you (21-22)
Human leaders (22a)
The five tyrannies (22b)
The divine chain of possession (23)

Applications

We must not elevate one Christian leader above all others.
“Nobodies” now have “all things”!
God's sovereignty: “Being caught in their own wickedness” (v. 19)
The “wise man” of this age needs to prepare to face Him!
There are no tyrannies left!
