Spiritual development presupposes spiritual life.
Spiritual growth is the work of God.
God uses means: His word, prayer, godly role-models, life experience including trials.
Growth is internal, so often imperceptible.
None of us are fully mature.
Perfecting holiness takes a lifetime.
Be very careful when assessing your own state.

Those pressing on to be the perfect man
Have fellowship with God.
know God manifesting Himself to them familiarly.
Have a memory stored with spiritual experience.
Are under the control of the Holy Spirit.
Have great usefulness.
Have settled convictions.
Avoid childish activities.
In all these things they show the beauty of Christ.
